CM Yediyurappa flags off first-ever RORO train from Bengaluru to Solapur

In an effort to ease the traffic and promote a hassle-free transit, the Chief Minister fo Karnataka BS Yediyurappa, on August 30, flagged off the first-ever Roll-On-Roll-Off (RORO) train between Bengaluru (Nelamangala) and Solapur in Maharashtra through video-conferencing.

The CM said that RORO is a hassle-free and environment-friendly service. As per his tweet, Yediyurappa said, “Roll-On-Roll-Off (RORO) service is hassle-free, reduces accidents on the road, is environment friendly, and presents a win-win situation to truck operators and industries. Happy to flag the maiden RORO train service between Bengaluru and Solapur. My best wishes to all stakeholders.”

The South Western Railway also tweeted regarding the newly launched train and said, the service is a dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of multimodal connectivity that will boost trade, reduce travel time.

At the flagging off event, the Union Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi, the CM, State Revenue Minister R Ashoka and senior railway officials were also present.
