CM to inaugurate National Urban Development Summit in Aizawl, Mizoram

To ponder Smart Cities Mission in North East, the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Department (UD&PAD), Government of Mizoram in association with Elets Technomedia Private Limited, is organising the National Urban Development Summit, Aizawl on Friday.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is going to inaugurate the summit at Aijal Club, Aizawl.

Zodintluanga, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Minister,Government of Mizoram, who is the Guest of Honour at the summit, will showcase the growth story of the State there.

Other important officials from the Government of Mizoram including Dr C Vanlalramsanga, Secretary, UD&PA, Arvind Ray, Chief Secretary, Valbuanga, Programme Director, State Investment Program Management and Implementation Unit (SIPMIU), Aizawl, will also participate in the summit.

From other Northeastern States, Udai Chandra Rai, Chairman, Namchi Municipal Council, Government of Sikkim; Dikila Bhutia, Vice-Chairman, Namchi Municipal Council; Dr Toshimanen Ozukum, Head of Department, Directorate of Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland; Navin Rai, Joint Chief Town Planner, UD&PAD, Government of Sikkim will share the vision of their respective States in the area of urban development.

There will be in-depth discussions on areas like exploring best  practices for India’s urban landscape, international collaboration and experience for inclusive urban growth, Smart City: Challenges and Opportunities, challenges in urban development and Municipal Administration, leveraging teachnology for sustainable urban development, digital revolution and innovation in urban transformation etc.

Realising the potential of North East in Smart City space, Belina Rana, Joint Commissioner and Additional CEO, Faridabad Smart City Limited, Government of Haryana; Professor Jagan Shah, Director, National Institute of Urban Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India; Haulianlal Guite, Secretary, Jaipur Development Authority; Awdesh Sharma, CEO, Ujjain Smart City Limited,Government of Madhya Pradesh; Amod Kumar, Member, Board of Revenue, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Arun Dev Gautam, Secretary, Department of Home and Transport, Government of Chhattisgarh will also share their State’ success story in the summit.

The first Elets National Development Summit was held in Hyderabad last year.

Elets is a technology and media research company who aims to organise 100 Smart Cities summits in the country.
