CII signs MoU with Bengal to build four Smart Cities

CII_LogoThe Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has signed an agreement with the Government of West Bengal to build four Smart Cities in the State.

Dr Saugat Mukherjee, Regional Director, CII Eastern Region and Sutanu Prasad Kar, Mission Director, Smart Cities Mission of West Bengal, signed MoU during a roundtable on CII National Mission on Smart Cities, as per a CII release.

According to the agreement, CII will work with the State’s Urban Development Department and other stakeholders in developing the vision, setting goals and making up strategies on transforming Bidhan Nagar, New Town- Rajarhat, Haldia and Durgapur into Smart Cities.

The release further said, “CII will also collaborate with the State Government in terms of mobilising industry expertise and resources.”

Top municipal and State Government officials, along with senior executives from various companies took part in the dicussion.

The CII mission is working towards identifying pilot projects for infrastructure creation and renovation of existing facilities.
