Bhubaneswar wins Best Digital Innovator Award for 2018

The capital city of Bhubaneswar has won the best Digital Innovator Award for 2018. The awards were recently announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. More than 72 cities participated in this competition which seeks to award those initiatives that facilitate digital payment for the citizens.

There were three category for awards–Best Digital Payment Adopter, Best Digital Payment Innovator, and Fastest Smart City Focusing on Digital Payments.

The Best Digital Payments Innovator award was bagged by Smart City Pune.

“Credit for the award goes to smart Punekars who adopted the digital payments method very fast. This is another boost and encouragement for the shift towards digital payments for all types of government services in the city.” said Rajendra Jagtap, CEO, Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited.

The awards aim to guide, motivate and recognise efforts of the cities which are innovating for help facilitate digital payments.

Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited has already introduced Common Payment Card. It is called Odyssey Payment Card. More than 2,000 such cards have been distributed in the city already.

The city administration will also install 325 Point of Sale machines across the city for the citizens.
