Bhubaneswar to get multipurpose digital kiosks across city

Bhubaneswar digital kiosks

Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), the Special Purpose Vehicle for the Odisha capital has launched the initiative to build digital kiosks across the city. The kiosks would enable people to pay their electricity and water bills.

They can also have access to information on tourist places in and around the city and ticket and timing information of bus, trains and flights through these touchscreen-enabled digital kiosks.
BSCL will also help people avail certain app-based services.

Honeywell Automation India Limited has been assigned the task to install the machines. One such digital kiosk is expected to come up at the Bhubaneswar railway station. According to CR Nayak, Bhubaneswar Railway Station Director, the proposal of BSCL has been accepted by the Railways.

Apart from this, digital kiosks will be installed at Biju Patnaik International Airport, BMC Bhawani Mall, Kalinga Stadium and several other public places in the City. The estimated timeline to install the kiosks is October 2019.

Akash Gupta, Honeywell Project Manager was quoted as saying, “This facility will be useful to tourists as well as locals, especially when their phones are switched off. The kiosks will also allow them to book cabs and avail other app-based multiple services.” He also added that the service has been started on a trial basis at Bhubaneswar Development Authority office and has proven successful.
