BBMP budget postponed until further notice amid lockdown

Bengaluru’s civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was to release its annual budget for fiscal 2020-21 by the March-end, but, amidst the nationwide lockdown caused due to the Coronavirus outbreak has postponed the budget release indefinitely.

The BBMP’s Standing Committee for Taxation and Finance, Chairman, L Srinivas, confirmed the postponement a national daily. He said that though the budget is almost ready, the committee had taken a call to put it off until the coronavirus situation is under control. The committee had taken several meetings for consultations with city MLAs, former mayors, senior councillors, senior citizens, non-governmental organisations and media personnel. Srinivas further said that though the committee is almost ready but the situation currently demands focus on public healthcare over everything else.
