Amritsar Smart City: 66K LED street lights to be installed in 1st Phase

As many as 60,000 LED street lights are going to be installed soon at Ranjit Avenue A and B blocks in Amritsar under the Smart City mission.

Karamjeet Singh Rintu, Mayor of Amritsar, launched the first phase of the project which would require six months to complete and Rs 34 crore in costs.

According to the Mayor, the responsibility of maintenance of these lights will be of the company that has been assigned the project for the next five years.

Amritsar, which is home to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, was included in Smart City mission’s third list of 27 cities in 2016. The Union government’s flagship scheme aims to make 100 Indian cities citizen-friendly and sustainable.
