55 integrated command and control centres for Smart Cities

Another feather added to the cap of Smart Cities with the introduction of 55 integrated command and control centres. It was announced by the Durga Shankar Mishra, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs at an event in Nagpur.

“With 10 centres operational, work on other 25 centres is in progress and rest 20 are at the tender stage,” Mishra added.

The city operation system was developed at NMC head office and a command and control centre was constructed at police headquarters by the State Government along with Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and police department, under the Rs 520 crore Smart and Safe City project.

Mishra said, “Maharashtra was the second-best among all States under Swachh Bharat Mission. All urban areas in Maharashtra are open defecation free. Under the PM mission ‘Housing for all by 2022’, construction of 1 lakh houses is going on. All these projects will hold an identity for ‘Naya Bharat’ at the 75 years of independence.
