25 out of 70 SCM projects completed in Vizag: Puri

While informing the Rajya Sabha about Smart City Mission (SCM) on March 11, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (IC) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) said that of the 70 projects under the SCM 25 have been completed in Vishakhapatnam.

The total value of the projects completed is Rs 342.82 crore. For the rest of the projects, work orders worth Rs 1,990.57 crore have been issued for 36 projects whereas for another four projects costing Rs 337 crore, tenders have been sought, said Puri.

Puri, in a reply to a question by V. Vijaya Sai Reddy a Rajya Sabha member, said that in total 195 projects worth Rs 6,871.05 crore were being implemented in Kakinada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam under the centre’s mission.

A time period of five years has been given for the completion of the projects from the date of selection in the mission. Further, the minister informed that the allocation of budget to meet the target for 2020-21 has been done.

Around 66 projects worth Rs 2,164.25 crore have been allocated for Kakinada. Of which, 24 projects costing Rs 429.04 crore have been completed while for around 30 projects costing Rs 1,205.48 crore, work orders have been issued. However, tenders for the remaining 6 projects worth Rs 299.13 crore have already been floated.

Tirupati has been allotted with 59 projects worth Rs 1,804.4 crore. 15 projects worth Rs 56.75 crore of the total projects allocated have been completed. Work orders for 34 projects costing Rs 1,494.99 crore have been issued and tenders for the remaining 10 projects worth Rs 252.66 crore have been floated.
