Agra Municipal Corporation has decided to build five gateways across the borders of the city based on Mughal architecture. These gateways will be part of Smart City projects. One of the gate will be erected on NH 19 at Etmadpur border and one of them will be build on Kheria border
The gateways are also part of the corporation’s effort to boost tourism. They will be made to welcome tourists who will be coming to see Taj.
The city administration is currently making Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the same. There are also plan to light up the gateways in night.
The Agra Smart City projects are 40 developmental projects related to infrastructure, digitisation and beautification of the city.
Till now, DPRs of 18 projects have been completed so far. For the beautification of area in and around Taj, a budget of Rs 1,000 crore has been kept aside.
The administration is also trying to improve its door-to-door garbage collection, solid waste management system, Intelligent Traffic Management System, etc.
