Rajasthan Govt works on green building byelaws

Paryavaran Bhavan, Delhi-1With the concept of green buildings being pursued globally to conserve the environment, the Rajasthan government has also come up with a proposal to foster the idea in the state.

The state government is planning to formulate byelaws to facilitate construction of green buildings and it has invited suggestion and opinions from various stakeholders, according to UDH Principal Secretary D B Gupta, an official release said recently.

At a meeting with Danish Ambassador to India Freddy Svane, Mr Gupta said the opinions and suggestions of developers’ bodies would also be considered before framing the rules. In the days ahead, the government would also sign an MoU with the government of Denmark for the promotion of green building concept, the release quoted Mr Gupta as having said.

Ambassador Svane also highlighted the advantages of the green building concept, saying it saves energy and water consumption, and hence should be promoted. He said construction of building takes place in his country as per green building rules.

JDA Commissioner Shikhar Agrawal and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
