The smart city wave is hitting the right notes in West Bengal after New Town in Kolkata got selected in the second list of the cities to be made “smart” on Tuesday, with the hope of Bidhannagar, Haldia and Durgapur making it in the next phase of selection.
The Central Government released the second smart city list on Tuesday featuring New Town placed on the 30th position.
The list also had the town of Bidhannagar at 44th place which has high chances of being named in one of the forthcoming lists.
According to the authorities of Bidhannagar corporation, the work is on for preparing a detailed project report of the smart city plan.
