Haryana to open malls in Gurugram and Faridabad from July 1

Good news for shoppers dwelling in Gurgram and Faridabad, the Government of Haryana has released orders to reopen the shopping malls in two areas from July 1. However, in the light of night curfew, there are fixed timings for people visiting the malls. From 9 am to 8 pm the malls will remain open, also, a set of guidelines under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have released which are to be followed by people, staff, and other stakeholders of the malls.


The orders, however, clearly states that the cinema halls, gaming arcades, and children’s play areas will remain shut. Apart from these, the generic preventive measures like social distancing and wearing face covers are mandatory. Moreover, people above 65 years of age and below 10 years, persons with co-morbidities and pregnant women will not be allowed inside the malls.

Also, as per the orders, all the visitors should install Aarogya Setu app. Staffers in high-risk categories like senior citizens, pregnant women and those with underlying medical conditions were advised to take extra precautions.

According to SOPs, the use of escalators with one person on alternate steps may be encouraged. Moreover, in food courts and restaurants, not more than 50 percent of seating capacity will be permitted.

The authorities need to ensure that proper sanitisation is being carried out in all areas and issue challans to visitors not abiding with preventive measures. Five masks should be handed over to each violator after issuing a challan of Rs 500, said the order.
