Metro rail cardA prototype of Metro travel Smart Card- a card that serves the purpose of token free travel in Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) for metro commuter – was presented to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav by Dr. E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor to Lucknow Metro, who was on a review visit to LMRC.

Named “Go Smart” , this smart card will serve the purpose of token free travel in LMRC for metro commuters. It will be a contactless card which will have to be shown at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates by the passengers while entering or exiting from the metro system.

Lucknow Metro’s “Go Smart” card will also serve as “Common Mobility Card” in future as it can be integrated with 28 different agencies for passenger’s mobility need within the city. Metro users can also use this card while travelling in city buses and UPSRTC once these systems are integrated.

Moreover, this card can also be used in other metro systems being planned in cities such as Kanpur and Varanasi. LMRC has always desired to provide a hassle-free travel/journey to its commuters and this is the opportune way for Lucknow Metro to leverage this facility to its daily commuters for travelling in a very smart, convenient and hassle-free environment.

Immediately after his arrival at the Lucknow Airport this morning, Dr. E. Sreedharan oversaw the civil construction work en-route Lucknow Metro office to Gomti Nagar. Afterwards, he took a review meeting of the progress of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project.
