Delhi Pollution: AQI in ‘poor category’, expected to worsen further

The air quality in the national capital stood in the higher end of the ‘poor’ category with AQI that read 279 at 6 AM in the morning today, on November 23. However, as per the government agencies’ forecast, the AQI is likely to enter the ‘very poor’ category due to reducing wind speed that will lead to slower dispersion of the pollutants.

Apart from this, the contribution of stubble burning to Delhi’s PM2.5 levels was also slightly less on November 22 and reduced to 12 per cent from 13 per cent. Further adding to the issue, the temperature is falling to a record low levels with 6.9°C which is the lowest temperature recorded in November in 17 years.
