The upcoming 29 km Thane Integral Ring Metro project will feature 22 stations to strengthen urban mobility across Thane.

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Basharat Qayoom reviewed key Srinagar Smart City projects and directed officials to complete the ongoing works within the stipulated timeline while keeping public assets in top working order.

Qayoom was accompanied by senior officials of SSCL, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), KPDCL and Mechanical Engineering Department. The inspection included Souq Market & Craft Center in Batamaloo, under-construction electric bus charging station in Batamaloo and Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) at HMT.

Qayoom visited the Souq Market and Craft Center to evaluate the functioning of the facility and the need for maintenance. He stressed that public infrastructure has to stay functional and well maintained.

The most specific directions were for the charging station. Qayoom reviewed the progress on construction, build quality and infrastructure requirements and directed the executing agencies to follow prescribed standards, address bottlenecks in a time-bound manner and complete within the stipulated time frame. He said that reliable charging infrastructure is essential for public transport and sustainable urban mobility in Srinagar. The report does not state the number of chargers, bays, the power rating of the chargers or the size of the bus fleet to be served by the station. It also doesn’t say when it will be finished.

HMT’s ICCC is the city’s nodal monitoring center. Qayoom reviewed monitoring mechanisms and technology-enabled operations, and asked the center to take a greater role in real-time urban monitoring and coordinated responses. He called for better coordination between departments, for timely sharing of information and for effective follow-up on issues identified by monitoring systems, in an effort to improve accountability and service delivery. In April 2025, an earlier review by the SSCL described the ICCC as the hub for real-time data monitoring, emergency response coordination and traffic regulation through the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). That review also did not provide any counts of cameras or junctions.

Maintenance directions of Qayoom emphasized that the long-term success of Srinagar Smart City projects depends not just on timely construction, but on continuous maintenance and active public use.
