
The Parliamentary standing committee on Urban Development held a meeting to discuss the rising issue of pollution leading to several health issues.
During the meeting, the committee discussed the report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) which states that there is a 43 percent increase in the number of respiratory-related diseases in the country due to the rise in pollution.
The Committee has asked Union Health Ministry to intervene and take a step in order to reduce the pollution level across the country in the next three months.
During the meeting, a presentation was also made by AIIMS director Randeep Guleria, on various types of diseased which have increased due to the rise in pollution level.
Urban Local bodies, Health Ministry, Indian Council of Medical Research, and other stakeholders were present in the meeting.
