DDA en route to Green Development implies sustainable future: Hardeep Singh Puri

hardeep_singh_puriIn a bid to emphasise the role of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in supporting the initiative of tree plantation for DDA on the occasion of ‘Van Mahotsav’, the Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri assured construction of 783 parks and 6 biodiversity parks that cover an area of 11,000 acres approximately at an event in Dwarka.

The event had the presence of Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal and Parvesh Sahib Singh, Member of Parliament along with other senior officials of Ministry of Housing Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and DDA.   

Acknowledging the importance of urban spaces which need green environment, Puri conveyed DDA has promoted the Development of Regional Parks, Community Parks, City Parks, District Parks and neighbourhood parks.

Puri also assured to revamp seven General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colonies devoid of cutting trees and assured the full term support from the Centre for maintaining the deadline of development projects.

While appreciating the initiative of DDA for profuse plantation Puri stated, “The proposal of DDA to plant 10 lakh trees throughout Delhi in DDA parks, Biodiversity parks, Yamuna Food plains along roadside and other places, is relevant for the environment.”  

Plantation of local species like Arjun, Peepal, Kadamb, Jamun, Neem etc is on the suggestion list, he added.
