Ration portability in Telangana to start soon

Ration card holders of Telangana can now get their ration from any fair price shop in India under the Central Government pilot project.

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, and Haryana are under this national-level pilot project funded by the Central Government. For this nationwide ration portability, the linkage of Aadhar card with ration card will be a prerequisite.

Telangana is one of the first states to have statewide portability in the Public Distribution System (PDS) on 1 April. Ration card holder registered with particular FPS to get ration from any FPS in the state.

Promoting it in State governments to adopt technology and the state-wide portability, the Central Government is looking for countrywide portability to revolutionise the PDS.

About 82 per cent ration cards have been linked to Aadhar and 2.95 lakh point of sale machines have been installed at ration shops to streamline the rationing process and stop pilferages.
