Pune’s Water Resources Get a Boost as Planet Smart City Successfully Manages 1 Billion Litres

Planet Smart City

Planet Smart City, a prominent global player in the affordable housing market, is making waves in Pune with its innovative Proptech solution. The company has successfully managed a staggering 1 billion liters of water across more than 15,000 households in Pune, India, providing a crucial lifeline amid the city’s ongoing water crisis.

As Pune faces a severe water scarcity challenge due to depleting resources and rapid urbanization, Planet Smart City’s “Planet SIM” emerges as a game-changing solution. Developed by the company’s Digital Business unit, Planet SIM collects data to analyze consumption patterns, enabling the identification of anomalies and the initiation of corrective actions. Deployed in over 60 residential societies, this platform has led to substantial water and energy savings.

Mr. Marco Pilia, Managing Director India at Planet Smart City, commented on this remarkable achievement, stating, “Planet Smart City is committed to creating affordable housing communities that prioritize environmental sustainability. Since the introduction of Planet SIM in Pune’s residential societies a year ago, we have efficiently managed over 1 billion liters of water, resulting in significant utility cost reductions for these societies. Our innovative solution has enabled substantial annual savings in water usage, labor, and electricity costs, leading to both financial benefits and a noteworthy reduction in our collective carbon footprint.”

Mr. Mukund Deogaonkar, Director India Business at Planet Smart City, added, “Through Planet SIM, we have the potential to reduce society water usage by an impressive 20 to 25 percent, based on our analysis of water consumption trends in Pune’s residential societies. This achievement not only reflects our commitment to sustainable water management but also significantly reduces overall power consumption by 8 to 10 percent.”
