100 villages in Haryana to be promoted as ‘smart grams’

Around 100 villages of Gurugram will be developed as ‘smart gram’ on the lines of five villages which are already working under the  adoption scheme initiated by President Pranab Mukherjee.

These five villages are Tajpur, Alipur, Dhaula, Harchandpur, and Rojkameo (Mewat).  Mukherjee will be visiting Dhaula village on June 2, to inaugurate a secondary school and driving training institutes.

“The President will be inaugurating these two projects, then the Smart gram model will be implemented in 100 other villages in the vicinity of these five villages,” said Vinay Pratap Singh, additional deputy commissioner, Gurgaon.

Smart Grams are giving special attention to education, skill development, renewable energy and health.

Many industries are also working alongside the government to develop these villages.

Dhaula, on its own, has installed solar rooftop power systems, skill development centres, rural economic zone, ‘smart gram’ custom hiring centre and wellness centres based on Ayush.
