Jaisalmer Military Station to be developed under Smart City Programme

Jaisalmer Military StationThe Indian Army has undertaken an initiative of development of the Jaisalmer military station under the Smart City Programme. The development is expected to aid ecological conservation and balance and will provide a major boost to the local economy.

A detailed plan has been already been formulated with the eight key areas identified by the Union Government for the development of Smart Cities.

This development is incorporating the concept of Smart Building and Green Building norms. Others smart features would be—rain harvesting, centralized garbage disposal system, solar water heater, solar security lights, underground electric cabling, LED lighting system, provision of LPG through pipelines, prepaid electricity and water meters, waste disposal chutes, passenger and service lift, among others.

The state-of-the-art military hospital to give high priority to the health of troops and a central sports complex is being developed under this plan.

For easy accessibility, it will also have an auditorium with a capacity of 1,200 people, a state-of-the-art shopping complex and Sainik Institute located in the middle of the station
