IL&FS to enable ‘Smart Classrooms’ in Visakhapatnam

To provide holistic education solutions in schools, Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL) has announced a three year partnership with IL&FS Education and Technology Services Ltd which is a premier education partner of Google for Education, India.

“Our vision is to transform conventional classrooms by empowering teachers to integrate digital tools and aids seamlessly in their teaching process. Our aim is to accelerate learning for students and encourage creativity and critical thinking,” said Managing Director and CEO of GVSCCL M Hari Narayanan.

Under the deal, IL&FS will provide hardware, software, training and certification to schools in Vishakapatnam.

In the first phase, 31 schools have been enabled with this solution. Every school is being provided with Chromebooks and GSuite for education. The content is being made available in Telegu and English.

“With Google coming in with its technology coupled with professional development programme for teachers, we are confident of smart city initiative of Visakhapatnam in education acting as a torch bearer for the state,” said  Managing Director and CEO of  IL&FS Education RCM Reddy.

This is in line with the Smart City Mission to create internet-connected, future-ready classrooms.

There is also a skill training programme for teachers so that they can effectively teach new ICT based solutions to pupils.
