Uttar Pradesh to Build Digitally-Managed Smart City Near Noida Airport

Noida Airport

In a major stride towards sustainable urban development, Uttar Pradesh is set to develop a cutting-edge smart city adjacent to the upcoming Noida International Airport. Spread across 750 acres, this integrated industrial township will feature a comprehensive digital framework to manage civic services efficiently, promoting a tech-driven, future-ready urban ecosystem.

The township is envisioned to seamlessly integrate advanced digital infrastructure with public service delivery, ensuring high urban living standards. Officials highlight that the project is designed to generate employment for nearly 50,000 individuals and provide residential facilities for approximately 30,000 people, as reported by The Times of India.

Advanced Command and Control Centre

At the core of this smart city lies a state-of-the-art command and control centre, developed at an estimated cost of ₹40 crore. This facility will be the central hub for vital utilities, including water supply, power distribution, waste management, sewerage systems, and public safety. Equipped with modern digital technologies, the command centre will offer real-time insights into city operations, ensuring prompt and effective responses.

To strengthen urban safety and traffic monitoring, around 140 high-definition CCTV cameras will be deployed, including systems with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. Additionally, real-time environmental sensors will track air quality and weather conditions, enhancing the city’s responsiveness to environmental challenges. Digital display boards across the township will offer public updates, emergency notifications, and civic announcements.

Seamless Integration with Greater Noida Infrastructure

The township will be digitally linked to the Greater Noida Authority’s existing smart infrastructure, particularly for traffic and security operations. A broader surveillance network, comprising over 2,700 cameras, will be monitored from a centralised control room. High-speed fibre optic connectivity will support seamless data transfer, boosting the scalability of smart services across the township.

Digital Access to Public Utilities

A robust digital platform will be launched to bring various public services online. This platform will include GIS-based mapping, automated billing systems, and interactive dashboards for users. Residents and industries will be able to access services such as electricity, water supply, and waste management with ease. It will also facilitate lodging grievances, submitting feedback, and tracking utility usage in real time.

Infrastructure Development and Upcoming Plans

Major civil infrastructure elements are already in place, including roads, drainage networks, street lighting, and electrical substations. An e-land management system is currently operational, streamlining land-related services. The process to appoint a Master System Integrator (MSI) is ongoing, with proposals invited until May 7.

The township’s future blueprint includes the development of group housing units, commercial plots, and tech-enabled urban services, aiming to serve as a benchmark for future urban planning in India. With a focus on digital innovation, sustainable growth, and efficient governance, the smart city project near Noida Airport represents a transformative vision for India’s urban future.
