The work has been started from the Gandhi Talav.

Before the state Assembly elections, the work was allotted to the concerned contraction. It was allotted under the Godavari beautification project.

A joint survey and mapping of 17 ancient kunds in the 1.5 km stretch of the river have been conducted by smart city committee officials, environmentalist Devang Jani and Prajakta Baste.

The stretch on which the survey was done started from the Ahilyabai Holkar bridge to the Modkeshwar temple. Under this Godavari beautification project, ancient kinds will also be revived.

“De-concretisation of the Godavari riverbed is part of the beautification project. There are different opinions about which stretch of the riverbed should be concretized. However, we will de-concretize the portion that is obstructing the flow of river water,” NMSCDCL official said.
