Khurda Balangir Rail line gets a green flag by Odisha Cabinet

Khurda Balangir Rail lineIn a recent move, that would benefit the union ministry of railways, the state cabinet gave positive ratification to alienation of government land of 881.745 acres for the construction of Daspalla Balangir of the crucial Khurda Balangir rail line.

Chief secretary A P Padhi said, “The land in Nayagarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Boudh, will be alienated chargeless by state government.”

In 1994-95, projects as to economically backwardness and inaccessible districts like Nayagarh, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur had got an approval for development but owing to poor progress in land acquisition and lack of adequate fund these were distant from progress.

With an idea of immediate implementation of Daspalla Balangir stretch of 177 km, the state government complied to share the 50 percent of the project cost and offer land free of cost.

The senior state government officials said, “Railways authorities will get 881 acres of government land sanctioned by cabinet. There is another initiative to acquire over 2000 acres of private and forest land and it will be completed in next six months.”

Amid other projects, the cabinet has given thumbs up for the lease of 181.77 acres of government land near Sambalpur to IIM-Sambalpur to establish its permanent campus.

Besides, one acre land allotment to Adim Owar Jarpa, the cabinet also accorded the exemption of land premium of Rs 25 lakhs.
