The Ministry of Shipping has decided to prepare a National Perspective Plan (NPP) under Sagarmala project for the entire coastline in six months.
NPP will identify potential geographical regions to be called Coastal Economic Zones (CEZs).
“While preparing the NPP, synergy and integration with the planned industrial corridors, dedicated freight corridors, National Highway development programme, industrial clusters and SEZs would be ensured,” Minister of State for Shipping, Pon. Radhakrishnan said in Rajya Sabha.
30 projects for port augmentation and mechanisation of Major Ports have been targeted this year.
Moreover, on completion of the National Perspective Plan, such identified projects would be taken up at both Major and Minor Ports for implementation under Sagarmala.
