
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to roll out the FASTags from midnight in its bid to reduce traffic across various toll plazas.
With FASTags now toll collection at National Highways across the country fully electronic.
If you have not bought FASTags yet, then you will have to pay a penalty as directed by the government to all the vehicle owners earlier. The government has made it mandatory for all the vehicle owners to adopt electronic toll payment using FASTags and no cash payments as it will attract a penalty.
What is FASTag
It is an electronic toll connection device that is connected with the windscreen of a vehicle which helps drivers to drive through the toll plaza without making a stop.
It uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable toll payments directly from a moving vehicle. The amount will be deducted directly from the account linked to FASTag.
Here is how to buy FASTag online
FASTags can be bought online from Amazon.in or different banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), as well as Paytm Payments Bank, to name a few.
A customer can buy from their respective banks providing their valid know your customer (KYC) document and vehicle registration (RC) copy along with the originals for verification purposes. They will also need to pay the FASTag joining fee (one-time fee), FASTag issuance fees (including all applicable taxes) and security deposit amount.
How to recharge your FASTags
Debit cards, credit cards, net banking and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have been made available in order to enable a consumer to recharge their FASTag account.
To have a hassle-free travel commuter should ensure maintaining sufficient balance in the payment gateways linked to FASTag.
