Centre’s team extends deadline for Swachh Survekshan League Survey in Indore

Citing challenges in covering each and every ward of Indore to collect pictures as well as feedback from citizens to verify Indore Municipal Corporation’s claims for top rating under Garbage Free Cities component of Swachh Survekshan (SS) League 2020, the Central government’s team has extended the deadline for completing the survey by few more days.

“It will take a few more days for the team to complete work,” an official was quoted as saying in media reports.

In the results of quarter 1 and 2 of Swachh Survekshan League 2020, announced by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs, on December 31, Indore was ranked number one in the category covering top 20 cities with population less than 10 lakhs.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had introduced Swachh Survekshan League 2020, the fifth edition of the annual urban cleanliness survey, “with the objective of sustaining the onground performance of cities along with continuous monitoring of service level performance when it comes to cleanliness”, the ministry said in a press communique.

Being conducted in three quarters, 2000 marks for each quarter are evaluated on the basis of monthly updation of SBM-U online MIS by cities along with citizen’s validation on the 12 service level progress indicators through outbound calls.

The current survey under progress in Indore holds 1,000 out of the total 6,000 marks under Swachh Survekshan League 2020.
