Lucknow Municipal Corporation will monitor water consumption through an online water supply network under the Smart City project.
This network will be developed in Kaiserbagh and will enable the Corporation to keep a check on the usage, improper distribution and scarcity of water in particular areas.
The supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology-based system will be used for gathering and analysing real-time data.
“Several cities, including Delhi and Bombay are already using SCADA technology to monitor and control water supply. Water meters will also give detailed account of usage and people will have to pay accordingly. I think this will not only enable us to check unaccounted wastage of water but will also maintain stable supply during all seasons,” said Smart City General Manager S K Jain in conversation with The Times of India.
More than 15,000 houses have been identified in Kaiserbagh and seven other wards in the vicinity where water meters will be installed. Along with meters, 250 sensors will be installed to include all areas under SCADA system.
Apart from Kaiserbagh area, Hussainganj, Latouche Road, Burlington, Cantonment Road, Lalbagh, Bhopal House, Halwasiya, Riverbank colony and areas around Parivartan Chowk, Novelty cinema, High Court and Residency will also be benefitted.
A plan has been made covering 100 km new pipeline in the these areas and 2,000 kilo litres pumping station in Aminabad, to ensure full time water supply.
