We are fostering the concept of Smart Cities: Bank of Maharashtra

The Bank of Maharashtra is lending its support to Smart Cities mission in the State, a top bank official has said.

Speaking during the Elets Smart & Sustainable City Summit held in April, organised by Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd with Nagpur Municipal Corporation as the host partner, Bank of Maharashtra’s Senior General Manager N V Pujari said: “Every Smart City initiative needs a banking partner for better management of funds and we are walking hand in hand in fostering the initiative.”

Describing his bank as the largest in the State in terms of business bandwidth, Pujari highlighted the role portrayed by the Bank of Maharashtra in assisting various municipal corporations towards building  Smart Cities.

“With digitisation we are enabling financial inclusion and reaching more and more people,” he said.

“We have been associated with several municipal corporations such as Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Bombay Municipal Corporation, Thane Municipal Corporation, Nashik Municipal Corporation, and  others as banking partner,” he added.

“Municipal corporations are associated with us for better management of their funds. When we are talking about the Smart Cities, there is a need to have a banking partner and we would be happy in sharing our banking services with such initiatives,” Pujari said.

He said banking is one sector that has brought a lot of transformation in lives of people, be it agricultural development, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMe) sector, large corporate etc, entire productions have been supported with these funds.

While talking about his experience in Elets Smart & Sustainable City Summit, Pujari said: “I am  very happy with the initiative as it involves a lot of brain storming ideas.”
