Uttarakhand government has now decided to take public opinion for deciding the structure of the project which is to be submitted to the central government by April 15.
The opinion poll will be live from February 28 on https:mygov.in where people can submit their opinion and expectation from the smart city project. All the responses will be considered before preparing new smart city plan, said R Meenakshi Sundram, housing secretary.
After the failure of the state from being selected in top 20, Dehradun, along with all other cities, was given time to reframe the plan and resubmit for the next round of selection.
He told that earlier the state government had only submitted the proposal for the green field project. Now the retrofitting component is also added. He also requested the people of Dehradun to give their opinion. He told that it’s better to help in shaping up the things than to protest and demand later.
Sundram admitted their ignorance towards online feedback earlier and relying on door-to-door feedback. Now they are engaging common citizen through social media apart from focusses discussions at the community level to involve everyone in telling their expectations.
