Two days startup festival kickstarts in Surat

Smart City SummitTwo days startup festival and Smart City Summit started today in Surat. The event, organised by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), in association with Elets Technomedia Private Limited, saw huge participation from start ups and investors on the first day.

Inaugurated by Ashmita Prafulbhai Shiroya, Mayor, Surat; M Thennarasan, Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation; Jan Myhr, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Sweden; K K Nirala, Director, Technical and Higher Education Department, Government of Gujarat and Dr Ravi Gupta, CEO of Elets Technomedia, among others, the Smart City Summit saw participation from various stakeholders from across the country.

“Our main focus is on IT-based services for citizens. We are also trying to improve the SMC services like
24X7 water supply, smart roads, IT enabled transport system, etc,” said Thennarasan while presenting the welcome address at the summit.

A special issue of eGov magazine was also launched at the event.

There was a panel discussion on the Role of Government in Supporting Startup & Innovation Ecosystem which saw deliberations of policymakers and representatives of the industry. Representatives of more than 100 startups from 12 different states are participating in this festival.

Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will grace the event tomorrow where he will felicitate innovative startups and stakeholders who are doing marvellous work in their respective cities.

To share industry perspective, R K Infratel, DNI Global, NetMagic, SRISHTI, AASAR, Vedang, Syncoro, eChai Ventures and Domain Experts, Networking Tea, Jindal Stainless Steel, Delta Power Solutions, Technocrat, Schneider Electric, SAP India, Netmagic, Probit Plus, ICICI are participating here.

“Having been popular all around for its diamond and textile industry, the Surat is acquiring a new recognition under the Smart Cities Mission. Today, it has emerged as India’s highest ranked Smart City with maximum number of projects implemented and completed under the Smart Cities Mission,” said Dr Ravi Gupta.

This is 30th Smart City Summit of Elets Tehnomedia, the media and technology based research company which aims to organise a total of 100 such Smart Cities conferences across the country.
