New ‘smart’ street furniture to transform Sydney

smart street In an endeavour to stand on the terms of being ‘smart’, the city of Sydney is cautious to find a service provider to deliver new street furnitures like outdoor advertising assets and free public WiFi to streets of Sydney. The move will benefit the city’s millions of daily visitors, residents, and workers.

The new initiative will incorporate 2,500 pieces of street furniture, including bus shelters, kiosks, communication panels, public toilets, seats, litter bins, and much more.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said, “This move offers an ideal opportunity for the service provider to assist in defining the future of Sydney’s street furniture and digital signage.”

“The contract as to street furniture and outdoor advertising contract is sizable and has great relevance in Australia. What we need to do further is to find the perfect service provider to impart services of free Wi-Fi and smart, well-designed street furniture to our residents, workers, and visitors,” Moore added.

“The new street furniture and outdoor advertising contract will have a different impact on the way city functions. Its impact will impart new technology to streets, deliver free internet and ensure the smart city platforms, that change the way our residents, visitors, and workers interact with each other,” Moore added.
