Nagpur Smart City project gets fund of Rs 189 crore

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is planning to develop Central Bazaar Road in the city’s Ramdaspeth area as “smart parking” within one month.

“A total of 85 car parking slots will be developed in a stretch of around 500 meter. It will be fully automated as it is to be laced with embedded sensors,” Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar told The Times of India.

The project is a part of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ Rs 520 crore Smart City Solutions Project.

Larsen & Toubro Construction’s Smart World and Communications business unit  will develop an app for parking, city bus transportation and other facilities under the project.

By making use of the parking app, anybody can book parking space before heading to that area. Parking will be done after the person get a QR (Quick Response) code. A digital display board will also be erected at the Smart Parking.

“There was delay in getting permissions, procurement of materials and problems in sites identification. Project is planned in a span of just one year. But we are taking all efforts to ensure completion of project within given period of one year,” he added.
