Maharashtra to construct 19.4 lakh tenements in 322 cities by 2022

A high-level empowered committee consists of Maharashtra State Cabinet and headed by Chief Minster Devendra Fadnavis has set up to achieve the target of constructing 19.4 lakh tenements in 322 cities under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) before 2022.

The State’s Housing Minister Prakash Mehta, Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil, Labour Minister Sambhajirao Patil Nilangekar, Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole and Additional Chief Secretary (Housing) Sanjay Kumar are the other members.

According to sources, the state would form the Maharashtra Affordable Housing Development Corporation and grant a Floor Space Index (FSI) of 2.5 to PMAY projects. The high-power committee is formed in aiming to improve the coordination among different agencies to achieve the target in the certain timeframe.
