The Smart Cards were launched by the Maharashtra’s State Transport Minister Diwakar Raote in Kolhapur recently.
MSRTC provides such concessional passes to 24 sections of the society including students, senior citizens and disabled people.
But off late, several cases of misuse and fake Smart Cards have come to the notice of the Transport Department.
Through the new smart cards, citizens don’t need to travel to bus stands for their renewal since they will be available at all concession availing sections in the State.
In the last financial year, around 39 crore people took benefit of the concessional passes.
