Lucknow buses to get CCTVs for women safety

Uttar Pradesh state government is planning to install CCTV cameras in Lucknow city buses to ensure women safety.

“We have got the plan. It will not take more than a month to implement Integrated Test Management System (ITMS),”said a senior official in conversation with The Times of India.

The state government will make use of centre’s Nirbhaya fund allocated to state transport departments for safety of women passengers.

To monitor the operations, Vehicle tracking system and GPRS will be set-up in all city buses with live cameras directly connected to the control room. A passenger information system enables control room to check who boards and alights from the bus at stoppages.

This plan will come in action from the next month, to facilitate smart and secured transport in the Smart City. Varanasi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Agra will also get ITMS soon.
