India’s second largest airport to come up in Mopa, Goa

Airport in MopaThe Central Government will develop India’s second largest airport in Mopa, Goa by 2020. It will be second only to Mumbai airport.

A joint team of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Commerce Logistics Department will visit Goa on 7th-8thMay 2018 to oversee the development of cargo hubs.

A meeting between  Goa Chamber of Commerce and industries is also scheduled where connectivity issues with different states will also be discussed.

Last week, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu had announced that Goa will become a logistics hub of India. Goa already has one airport at  Dabolim. The Government is also upgrading this airport at a cost of Rs 600 crores.

This new airport will have the capacity to handle 30 million passengers annually as well as cargo.

The four coastal states in the western part of the country, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Goa, will benefit greatly Mopa airport.
