Union Minister of State for Urban Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has presented cleanliness awards to the representatives of 41 cities of the country in various categories at Brilliant Convention Centre of Indore.
Under Cleanliness Survey-2018, 41 cities were honoured for bringing cleanliness in various categories.
The whole country will be open-defection free by the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, on October 2, 2019, added the Minister.
57 lakh individual toilets and 3, 80,000 public toilets have been constructed with public support given to the campaign.
73 cities took part in the year 2016 survey, 432 in year 2017 and 4 thousand 203 cities in 2018, informed Puri.
The Public has contributed in this cleanliness drive in every city and locality in the state of Madhya Pradesh, said Urban Development Minister, Madhya Pradesh, Maya Singh. Urban Development Minister Suresh Khanna was also present at the occasion.
