Highway projects in Delhi-NCR take steps to curb smog

To check the pollution arising out of construction work, the Minister of Road Transport and highways, Shipping, Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari has directed Project Directors, Contractors and field level officials working on highways projects around Delhi NCR to take stringent steps. The steps to be taken in this regard include sprinkling water at all construction sites and camp, covering of dumpers transporting construction material / waste including flyash, in the region, covering of exposed soil at the construction sites and adherence to air quality norms by all plants and machinery.

He has also instructed the Field officials to inspect the construction sites regularly so that all the pollution control measures are adhered to in a strict manner.

Delhi Government has also decided to impose the odd-even car scheme for a five-day period from November 13.
