Gurugram Smart City Summit to kick-off on Thursday

 Gurugram Smart CityCome 1 February, Gurugram Municipal Corporation (GMC) along with Elets Technomedia is all set to organise Smart City Summit-Gurugram, bringing together stakeholders from government and industry in one platform for knowledge and experience exchange on smart cities.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra will be joining as Keynote Speaker; Gurugram Municipal Corporation Mayor Madhu Azad as Guest of Honour; and Gurugram Municipal Corporation Commissioner V Umashankar as  Programme Chair at the summit being organised at Ambience Island at DLF Phase–3 in Gurugram.

Officials from various Ministries, State departments, Municipal Corporations, Government bodies, along with industries and corporations are attending. The summit is also expected to provide sponsors and the exhibitors a wide platform through which they can showcase their best smart city solutions.

“I congratulate the  Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and Elets Technomedia for organizing the ‘Smart City Summit’ which seeks to bring together stakeholders from government and industry for knowledge and experience exchange to explore and discuss ways to build futuristic smart cities,” Housing and Urban Affairs Minister of State (Independent Charge) Hardeep S Puri in a message said.

In another message of Chemicals and Fertilizers MoS (IC) Rao Inderjit Singh said, “As honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked upon the journey to effect urban transforming through his visionary Smart City Mission… At this juncture, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has done the right thing by organising ‘Smart City Summit’  which will bring together stakeholders from the Government and Industry.”

“The Government of Haryana has shown appreciable commitment towards creating platform for collaboration between the smart city stakeholders, private players and the Government machinery to evolve an affordable and livable ecosystem,” Tourism MoS (IC) KJ Alphons said in a separate message.

The summit tomorrow is expected to witness an intense knowledge sharing on the topics, as per the agenda, that includes “Importance of effective urban mobility and transport, sustainable energy and infrastructure to make futuristic cities,” “Building Smart Cities: challenges and opportunities,” “Leveraging New Age technologies to make futuristic and sustainable cities, “Ensuring liveable cities through sustainable infrastructure, skill development and global collaborations,” “Smart City and sustainable cities: smart health, waste and water management through innovation.”

Notably, the event tomorrow is the 26th Smart City Conference being organised by the  Elets Technomedia, a media and technology research organisation on innovation and ICT for Governance, Education, Health, Urban Development and BFSI sector.
