German City to help Nagpur in Smart City projects

Smart City NagpurGerman city Karlsruhe will collaborate with orange city Nagpur for sustainable development. Nagpur Municipal Corporation and International Urban Cooperation programme of European Union has signed an agreement for this partnership.

A joint action plan will be formulated to address the needs of sustainable urban development and Smart Cities mission of the Government of India.

Ramnath Sonawane, Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) gave an overview on how IUC programme will help Nagpur in the implementation of Smart City plans.

He highlighted some key areas, like to integrate urban development and municipal services, low carbon development and urban innovation, and sustainable mobility.

Last year, Nagpur has received Rs 437 crore for beginning the works of area-based development (ABD) plan under smart city project.
