Durg city bags national award for cleanliness

Durg Municipal Corporation has been awarded for its outstanding contribution in Swachh Bharat Mission. The award was given  by Ministry of Home and Urban affairs, Government Of India,  for duck farming convergence with Swachh Bharat mission.

Durg Municipal Corporation additionally partook effectively in a one of its kind drive to clean Durg city.The city began an innovative task with thought of Commissioner S K Sundarni to clean lakes and ponds of the city along with devouring the fish market waste with the assistance of duck cultivating, adjacent fish market.

The plan started with cleaning of luchki lake by Mahi Self Help Groups (SHG). The SHG started this venture under the guidance of the Commissioner, got a loan of one lakh and constructed shed and obtained 100 ducks.

SHG  feeds these ducks with 5 kg gram of fish market squander everyday and create wage from duck egg. It should be noted that Durg Municipal Corporation had been awarded  with Skoch award in 2016 for its cleanliness efforts.
