The State Cabinet has sanctioned a proposal to hand over 656 acres land to the Urban Development Ministry for Ranchi smart city projects.
The smart city project in the city will be inaugurated on September 9 by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu.
The Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) had recently handed over the land, located in Dhurwa area, to the state government.
The Union Cabinet sanctioned Rs 721.93 crore to the HEC as a revival package for the latter.
