Ajmer to begin work on Smart City projects

The work of revamping the road that leads from Jaipur to Ajmer is going to commence soon. It is being undertaken by the Ajmer Smart City Limited (ASCL) under the guidance of Principal Secretary Manjit Singh who has constituted the board of ASCL.

The senior official has directed to form committees and sub-committees. ASCL recently held a meeting to discuss various smart city projects to be undertaken in Ajmer. Ajmer has received a budget of Rs 1,900 crore for providing smart city facilities in 13 out of 60 wards. ASCL is planning to make the Jaipur-Ajmer four lane road a six -lane road.

The Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) has already begun work on it. The road will see a makeover uptil Ambedkar Circle and then at Pushkar road from both Vaishali Nagar and Ramanagar sides. There is also a plan to beautify the Nanchal Bawari, which lies at the entrance of Ajmer, under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Yojana.

The Bawari, or water source was developed by Mughals to conserve rain water coming from nearby hills. The spot will be transformed into a place of public attraction. A plan to develop parking place in Naya Bazaar in place of animal hospital, which was shifted to Shastri Nagar extension is also in the pipeline.

Projects like smart parking and flyover from Kachahri road to Shrinagar road were also discussed in the meeting. Proposals for shifting JLN Medical College and TB Hospital to the outskirts of city are also being planned. Proposal to beautify Anasagar lake and developing the place as a tourist spot was also heard.

Likewise, modernisation of central bus stand and providing Wi-Fi at public places were also discussed.
